Terms of use

Last updated: October 30, 2026

These terms apply to any use of Meletia: creating an account, creating and publishing quizzes, embedding them on a website, and playing a quiz. Creating an account means accepting these terms. This English version is provided for convenience; the French version prevails.

1. The service

Meletia lets you create quizzes, publish them, embed them on a website (in an iframe) and share them with a link. Depending on the creator's choice, a published quiz can also appear in the public catalog and be played there directly. Playing a quiz requires no account.

The Free plan is free of charge, within its monthly game quota. Paid plans are described on the pricing page; those marked “soon” are not open yet.

2. Paid plans

  • Subscription. From the pricing page, by card. Payment is processed by Stripe; Meletia never sees or stores your card details. The price is the one displayed when you subscribe, including all taxes. [à compléter : régime de TVA (mention de franchise ou numéro de TVA)]
  • Term. The subscription is monthly or yearly, and renews automatically at the end of each period, at the same price, until it is cancelled.
  • Right of withdrawal. The plan is provided as soon as you pay. By confirming the payment, you request this immediate performance and waive your 14-day right of withdrawal (article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code).
  • Cancellation. At any time, from My account (Manage my subscription). It takes effect at the end of the paid period, with no prorated refund: your account then returns to the Free plan, with its quizzes, and the Free plan's quota and badge apply again. Deleting your account cancels the subscription immediately, with no refund for the current period.
  • Failed payment. If a renewal fails, Stripe retries the payment for a few days and the plan stays active. Without payment, the subscription ends and the account returns to the Free plan.
  • Price changes. Any price change is announced by email at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to; you can cancel before then.
  • Teacher discount. Teachers, lecturers and trainers get 50% off paid plans for life, once their status is confirmed (academic email address, or proof reviewed by Meletia). An inaccurate statement leads to the discount being removed for the following periods.
  • Challenges and rewards. Some long challenges come with a reward (credit on the next invoice or a discount on a renewal), described on the Challenges page. Only finished games count, at most 500 per quiz per day. Each reward is granted once per account, after review by Meletia; it can't be combined with another challenge reward or exchanged for cash. Artificial games (bots, scripts, games in a loop) lead to the reward being refused or withdrawn.
  • Invoices. They are available from My account (Manage my subscription).
  • Disputes. If a dispute with us remains unresolved, you can use the consumer mediator free of charge: [à compléter : nom et site du médiateur de la consommation].

3. Account

  • Creating an account is reserved for people aged 15 or over. Pupils and younger players can play quizzes without an account, in particular in Classroom mode.
  • You provide accurate information and keep your password confidential.
  • You are responsible for what is done from your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time from the My account page, or by writing to [à compléter : adresse e-mail de contact]: your account and your quizzes are then deleted immediately and permanently.

4. Your content

You remain the owner of the quizzes you create and you are responsible for them. You guarantee that you hold the rights to their texts and images, and that they comply with the law and these terms.

You grant Meletia, for the duration of publication and worldwide, a free and non-exclusive license to host, reproduce and display your quizzes, only as far as the service requires: the player embedded on websites, the share page and, if you chose it, the public catalog. This license ends when you unpublish or delete the quiz.

5. Prohibited content

A quiz must not contain, among other things:

  • illegal content, or incitement to commit an offense;
  • hateful or discriminatory statements, or glorification of violence or terrorism;
  • harassment, threats or statements targeting a person;
  • pornographic content, or sexual or violent content unsuitable for minors;
  • other people's personal data (name, photo, contact details) without their consent;
  • content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other people's rights;
  • unsolicited advertising, scams or malicious links.

Quizzes intended for underage players (Classroom mode) must be suitable for them.

An automatic check looks for a list of explicit terms (sexual, hateful or abusive) in the title, the description and the questions. Nothing in your quiz is changed or removed: the terms found are pointed out to you in the editor. A quiz that contains them can be published and stays playable through its link and on the sites that embed it, but only appears in the public catalog once the Meletia publisher has reviewed it, and may be declined there. In Classroom mode, it cannot be published while these terms remain. This check does not replace your responsibility for your content.

6. Reporting and removal

Anyone can report a quiz they consider illegal or contrary to these terms, without an account, using the “Report this quiz” link under every quiz (quiz page and embedded player), or by writing to [à compléter : adresse e-mail de contact]. The report states the reason and explains what the problem is. An email address lets us tell you what action was taken.

Every report is reviewed. Depending on its seriousness, the quiz may be unpublished or deleted, and its creator's account suspended or deleted. The creator concerned is informed of the decision and its reason, and can contest it by writing to [à compléter : adresse e-mail de contact]. An abusive or bad-faith report may engage its author's liability.

7. Embedding on a website

When you embed a quiz on your website, you remain responsible for your website. The player sets no cookies for your visitors. On the Free plan, it shows the “Powered by Meletia” notice. If you receive results on your server (webhook or API), you are responsible for processing that data.

8. Availability and liability

Meletia is under development. We do our best to keep the service available and reliable, but cannot guarantee it: it may be interrupted, in particular for maintenance, and its features may change. Keep a copy of important content. Meletia is not liable for content published by users, unless it failed to act promptly after becoming aware of it.

9. Suspension

If these terms are breached, we may unpublish a quiz, or suspend or delete an account, after warning you where possible, and immediately for manifestly illegal content.

10. Personal data

The privacy policy describes the data processed and your rights.

11. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page; for significant changes, account holders are informed before they take effect.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution is first sought by writing to [à compléter : adresse e-mail de contact]. Failing that, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the protective rules you benefit from as a consumer.
